WELCOME

WELCOME TO THE CALIFORNIA ARIZONA RIVER RAT RADIO AMATEURS (CARRA) webpage. In 1997, CARRA started as a bunch of boaters on the Parker strip. River Rats. Having long commutes to and from Parker to Southern California, most of us got into ham radio for passing the time and safety. Cell phone coverage did not exist. Still today Amateurs radio is the only way to communicate in many parts of the desert. CARRA had the opportunity to rebuild 146.85 Parker repeaters on Black Peak Parker AZ. This repeater has been on the air since the early 70's. Since then, the system has grow beyond our wildest dreams. With the help of Bob N2ZAV and Charlie KB3AJF CARRA is able to cover most of the Colorado River, from Lake Mead to Yuma. Please contact us if you would like to participate in our group.

Daily NET

CARRA participates in the INSOMNIAC NET every evening at 2300 (11:00 PM) local time on 146.850-. You may also check in using Echolink via IRLP 3793 Echolink# TBA. All amateur radio operators are invited to check in giving their callsign, name, location and answers to the trivia questions. This net allows our members to check their equipment daily and learn to communicate with a wide range of operators. This keeps our skills tuned. Being a member of CARRA is NOT required so please join us.
